Delta Dental sells PPO plans through employers and the federal government, and directly to individuals and families. If your card shows a Delta Dental PPO plan, it works at our office. DeltaCare USA is the exception. It's Delta's prepaid HMO-style plan, and we're not able to accept it.
Many Arizona employer plans are run by Delta Dental of Arizona, and the details differ a lot from one group to the next. Two coworkers can carry different deductibles, different yearly maximums and different percentages for the same crown. So we look yours up. No guessing.
For anyone who has stayed away from the dentist over cost, the call settles the money question first. After that, the visit is a conversation about what's bothering you and what you'd like to do next.

From Your Delta Dental Card to a Filed Claim in Three Steps
Your part takes one phone call.
1. Read Us Your Card
Give us the member ID and group number on your Delta Dental card. We ask Delta Dental for your deductible, your yearly maximum and how much of it you've used, at no charge to you.
2. Get Your Estimate First
You'll know your expected share before any treatment begins. Whether to go ahead, and when, stays your decision.
3. Leave the Claim to Us
Once your visit is done, we send the claim to Delta Dental. There's no paperwork for you to mail in.
What a Delta Dental Plan Pays Toward
Delta Dental PPO plans split care into preventive, basic and major services, and some also pay a different share depending on which Delta network your dentist belongs to. Here's a real example. The figures below come from one 2026 Delta Dental of Arizona employer plan. Your benefits check gives you the numbers for your own plan.
Cleanings and ExamsPaid in full on that plan, with no deductible, whether the dentist is a PPO, Premier or out-of-network dentist.
Tooth-Colored FillingsBasic care. That plan pays 90 percent with a Delta Dental PPO dentist and 80 percent with a Premier or out-of-network dentist.
Dental CrownsMajor care. That plan pays 60 percent with a PPO dentist and 50 percent elsewhere.
Dental ImplantsGrouped with bridges and dentures on that plan, at the same 60 and 50 percent split. Some Delta Dental plans leave implants out, so check before you plan treatment.
Emergency VisitsTreatment to relieve sudden pain counts as basic care on that plan, paid like a filling.
Deductible and Yearly MaximumThat plan's deductible is $25 a person with a PPO dentist and $50 with a Premier or out-of-network dentist, and it pays up to $2,000 a person each year.

If you phoned first, the insurance part is already done. Your appointment starts with a look at your teeth and a plain-language rundown of what your dentist sees, with room for every question you bring.
What to Have With You
- Your Delta Dental ID card, or the card's details on your phone
- A photo ID
- The plan holder's name and birth date, if the plan isn't in your name
Your teeth don't need to be in good shape to come in, and the time since your last cleaning is yours to keep to yourself. Treatment gets planned together, and nothing starts until you're ready.
Delta Dental Plans for Families and Individual Buyers
Everyone on One Delta Dental Plan
A spouse or children on your Delta Dental plan can be seen here too. Share each person's name and date of birth when you phone, and we'll look up the whole family at once. Some Delta Dental plans also cap the deductible for a family, so once that family total is reached, nobody else pays a deductible until the new benefit year.
Delta Dental Plans You Bought Yourself
Delta Dental also sells PPO plans directly to individuals and families. These plans can come with waiting periods before basic or major work is covered. New plan? Ask us to check which treatments it pays for today.
Use This Year's Delta Dental Benefits Before They Reset
Delta Dental of Arizona plans commonly follow the calendar. Benefits run from January 1 to December 31, and a new yearly maximum begins in January. A few employer plans pick other dates.
Got a cleaning coming up, or a filling or crown your dentist already suggested? Scheduling it before your plan resets means this year's money pays toward it, not next year's. One call tells you what's left of your maximum.

Your card or plan summary should say whether the plan is a PPO, Premier or DeltaCare USA plan. If it doesn't, give us the member ID and we can look it up.
Discount Plans Such as Careington
Careington and other discount dental plans are accepted here. Rather than paying claims, a discount plan lowers the fee you're charged, so it isn't insurance.
Paying for What Your Plan Doesn't
When your Delta Dental plan stops short, CareCredit financing can cover the remaining balance over time. Details are in the next section.
Paying Over Time With CareCredit
- After your Delta Dental plan reaches its yearly maximum, it stops paying until the new benefit year begins.
- CareCredit can finance the share your plan leaves to you, subject to CareCredit's approval.
- Prequalifying won't affect your credit.

Questions Delta Dental Members Ask Us
What's the difference between a Delta Dental PPO dentist and a Premier dentist?
They're two separate Delta Dental networks. PPO dentists agree to Delta's lower PPO fees, so plans such as the example above pay a higher share and charge a smaller deductible when you see one. Premier is the larger network, and its agreed fees can be higher. Your card and your plan summary show which networks your plan uses, and a quick call to us tells you how it pays here.
My card says Delta Dental of Arizona. Is that the same Delta Dental?
Yes. Delta Dental is a national network of independent companies, and Delta Dental of Arizona is the company for Arizona, so many local employer plans carry its name. If your plan is a Delta Dental PPO plan, we accept it, whichever Delta company issued the card.
Can I use a Delta Dental FEDVIP plan here?
Federal employees, retirees and military retirees can buy Delta Dental through FEDVIP, the federal dental program, and both of Delta's FEDVIP options are PPO plans. We participate with FEDVIP, so call with your card and we'll check your benefits.
Do cleanings count against my Delta Dental yearly maximum?
On some plans they don't. The 2026 Delta Dental of Arizona plan above leaves exams, cleanings, X-rays and sealants out of its $2,000 maximum, which keeps more of the maximum free for fillings and crowns. Your benefits check tells you how your own plan treats them.
Is the Delta Dental yearly maximum per person or per family?
On plans like the example above, it's per person, so each covered family member has their own maximum. That plan's deductible also has a family cap of $75.
Does Delta Dental cover sealants and fluoride?
Often in full. The example plan above pays 100 percent for sealants on permanent teeth and for fluoride, as part of preventive care. We offer both at our office, and we'll confirm how your plan treats them before your visit.
Does Delta Dental pay toward a root canal?
On plans like the example above, yes, as basic care. The example plan pays 90 percent with a PPO dentist and 80 percent with a Premier or out-of-network dentist after the deductible.
