Which Cigna Plans Does Our Phoenix Office Accept?
We accept two kinds of Cigna plans at our North Phoenix office. One is a Cigna dental PPO, whether it came with your job or you signed up on your own. The other is the Cigna Medicare DPPO, offered through Healthspring for people on Medicare.
With either one, our team deals with Cigna directly. Questions about your deductible, what a crown would cost you or where a claim stands come to us, not to a Cigna hold line.

How Do I Use My Cigna Benefits at Diamondback?
Call us with your Cigna member ID. We take it from there in three steps.
1. Tell us your plan
Read us the member ID from your Cigna card when you phone. That is all we need to get started, and the check costs you nothing.
2. Know your cost up front
We contact Cigna, find out what your plan covers for the care you need, and put your part of the bill in a written estimate before treatment. Nothing goes ahead until you say yes.
3. Leave the claim to us
After the appointment, our office submits the claim to Cigna. There is no paperwork for you to mail.
What Do Cigna Plans Usually Pay For?
Cigna plans group dental work into tiers: preventive, basic and major. Each tier is paid differently, and the exact split is written into your plan, which is why we look it up for you.
Cleanings and ExamsThe preventive tier. Many Cigna plans pay for two visits a year at little or no cost to you.
Tooth-Colored FillingsThe basic tier. After the deductible, Cigna covers part of the cost and you cover the rest.
Dental CrownsThe major tier, where your share is often larger. A few Cigna plans exclude major work altogether.
Dental ImplantsPaid as major work on plans that include implants. Some Cigna plans don't, and we'll tell you which kind you have.
Emergency VisitsOn many plans the urgent exam counts as diagnostic care. Any repair afterward falls in the basic or major tier.
Annual Maximum and Waiting PeriodsEach plan year, your Cigna plan pays up to a set dollar amount for basic and major care. Some plans you buy yourself also have a waiting period before that care is covered.

- You set the speed. Ask for a pause whenever you need one, and your dentist checks in as you go.

What Should I Bring to My First Cigna Visit?
Bring the three items below, and we handle the rest. By the time you walk in, we already know what your Cigna plan covers. Your dentist examines your teeth, shows you what they find and leaves room for every question you have.

- Cigna member ID card
- Driver's license or other photo ID
- Name and birth date of the person who holds the plan, if that isn't you

When Do Cigna Dental Benefits Reset?
On Cigna plans that follow the calendar year, benefits reset on January 1, and any unused part of your annual maximum does not roll forward. Some employer plans start on a different date, and we can tell you yours.
Is a cleaning coming due, or is a recommended treatment still on hold? Scheduling before the reset means this year's benefit can go toward it. Ask for a free benefits check to learn your remaining balance.

What will my Cigna plan pay for my treatment?
That depends on your plan, so we ask Cigna directly. Share your member ID and we'll report back your deductible, your annual maximum, how much of it is already used and your share for the care you need, all before you come in.
Do I need a referral to see a Cigna PPO dentist?
No. Cigna's dental PPO lets you choose any licensed dentist, with no referral and no primary dentist to name first.
Does Cigna cover cosmetic work like veneers?
Usually not when the work is purely cosmetic, since most plans exclude it. A crown that repairs a broken tooth is different: it can be covered even though it also looks better. We'll sort out which parts of a plan Cigna would help with before you commit.
Do new Cigna dental plans have a waiting period?
Only some. Certain individual Cigna plans hold off on basic and major care for several months after you enroll. We'll check your plan for any waiting period and tell you when it ends.
Does Cigna cover an emergency visit?
Your Cigna coverage applies to urgent care here like any other visit. If something happens, call (602) 866-8183 before noon on a day the office is open, and we'll do our best to see you the same day.
